A visit to Norfolk offers a refreshing escape from the hustle and
bustle of busy Britain. Around every corner you will find pretty
villages and historic churches, miles and miles of unspoilt beaches,
countryside and rivers teeming with wildlife and relaxed towns and
a city with wonderful shops and tempting cafes. Brancaster's beautiful
long sandy beach is a pleasant walk from Rosa Cottage.
Combine
all of this with an exciting selection of things to do and a range
of entertainment to suit all ages and you have Norfolk in a nutshell.

There are various bike
hire companies locally. Of course you are welcome to bring your own
bikes and the garage at Rosa Cottage is secure. Which ever you choose
you can head off into the countryside and discover that Norfolk does have
hills! The National Cycling Route No1 passes a few miles inland and Norfolk
offers a wealth of small country lanes to investigate.

The Royal West Norfolk Golf Course borders Brancaster Beach just one
mile away from Rosa Cottage.
Hiking and walking
The coastal path passes the door of Rosa Cottage heading both East and
West along the coast. If you are looking for something a little less strenuous
then there are some lovely short walks from the cottage. If you head South
from Rosa Cottage for just a few minutes up the hill you will get magnificent
views of Brancaster Beach and beyond. The Beach is a pleasant short walk
as is the footpath to Brancaster Staithe. The Norfolk Coastal bus runs
regularly along the coast should you not wish to walk back.
Holkham
Hall and Bygones Museum
Holkham
Hall is one of Britain's most majestic stately homes, situated in
a deer park of 3,000 acres, on the beautiful north Norfolk coast. This
classic 18th century palladian style mansion is a living treasure house
of artistic and architectural history. Home to seven generations of the
Earls of Leicester, Holkham has something for everyone, from the magnificent
state rooms in the hall to the tranquil lakeside picnic spots. The Bygones
Museum is an evocative collection of over 4,000 domestic and agricultural
artefacts, with exhibits as diverse as Victorian money boxes and early
traction engines. Really useful presents, including craftsman-made pottery,
beautiful pictures and delicious food from the gift shops, art gallery
and restaurant. Picnic in the park and watch the wildfowl on the lake.
Boat trips available on open days. Miles of glorious golden sand on the
lovely Holkham beach.

Kiting
and Windsurfing
Kite surfing and windsurfing are major sports on the Norfolk coast.
Whether you are just being dragged along the sand by the kite
(intentionally or by accident) or surfing and buggying. Kite surfing
and kiting can be done most places, with Brancaster and Hunstanton
beaches being very popular. Kite buggying is a little less popular
with the authorities, but there are some excellent locations for
it, like the West end of Brancaster beach.
Sea
Life Sanctuary - Hunstanton
A
breathtaking display of British marine life. Stroll around over
30 settings and view over 2000 fish in environments specifically
designed to recreate their natural habitats. Experience the unique
sensation of walking 'underwater' through our spectacular ocean
tunnel surrounded by 50,000 gallons of water with creatures of
the deep only inches away.
Outside are the seal pools where you can observe both resident
seals and pups in the process of being rehabilitated for their
release back to the wild. Pups may be seen undergoing treatment
in the seal hospital before being moved into the outdoor pools.
Vital information about seals is given during their twice daily
feed. (Because it's a rehabilitation unit, the number of pups
in the hospital varies). Hands-on fun - an interactive centre
which is an education for the whole family.
