Brancaster
is on the popular North Norfolk Coast and was originally a Roman
Fortress built about 300AD as part of the coastal defences. The
village is now a quiet little resort with a handsome church. Salt
marshes and sandy dunes, planted with Marram grass to hold up the
process of erosion, separate the village from its beautiful sandy
beach. Two miles away Brancaster Staithe stands on a creek which
opens into Brancaster Harbour. It is a very popular sailing centre
and from here, when the tide is right, it is possible to visit the
bird sanctuary and national nature reserve of Scolt Head Island.
It is a pleasant short walk from Rosa Cottage to the beach.

There
are two well-stocked general stores within two miles of Rosa Cottage
which stands at the end of a pretty, very narrow lane. The Norfolk
Coastal footpath passes the door. The Village Pub offers good food
and welcomes children. There are numerous high quality restaurants
on your doorstep. There is a sailing school at Brancaster Staithe
and the Royal West Norfolk Golf Course is at Brancaster. Burnham
Market is about 4 miles away and has around 40 attractive shops.

A
new kitchen was installed in April 2005 and a new bathroom in December
2007
Rosa Cottage was purchased by us in 2004 and is our own holiday
home that we regularly use. You will therefore find tea, coffee,
etc in the cupboards which you are welcome to use provided that
you replace it before you depart! The cottage is at the end of a
narrow lane with open farmland to the South and West. The lane is
part of the North Norfolk Coastal path and all that you are liking
to see passing the door are walkers, dogs and the occasional tractor.
The house and garden are ideal for guests with children or dogs
as the rear of the cottage is enclosed.

There is a lovely light sitting room with open fire, dining area,
kitchen, NEW bathroom with bath and powerful shower, two double
and one single bedrooms. The kitchen is equipped with an oven,
hob and extractor, microwave, fridge and dishwasher. Behind and to
the side of the cottage is a lovely sheltered patio and private
garden. The garden faces South and the patio West so provides a
lovely afternoon and evening (in the Summer) sun trap. There is
a garage which has an additional fridge and freezer, washing machine
and the old kitchen sink for your muddy boots! There is ample parking
space for several cars. The house has central heating throughout.

Rosa Cottage is 'a home from home', rather than a commercial 'holiday
let'. The owner loves it and hopes you will also love and respect
it. There is a TV, video, DVD and hi-fi to make your stay more enjoyable.
Well-behaved children and dogs are very welcome. Smoking is strictly
prohibited in the cottage
